Biography

Lexie Tom is a member of the Lummi Nation. She is currently serving as the Department Chair of Native Studies at Northwest Indian College. She is also an instructor in the program, she teachings courses in Indigenous Research and Coast Salish culture and history. She is an Alumnus of Northwest Indian College where she graduated with her Associates degree in Native Studies in 2007. She graduated from Western Washington University, The Evergreen State College, and most recently earned her Doctorate from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In 2009, Lexie was a participant of the Growing Our Own initiative at Northwest Indian College. This initiative, led by Cheryl Crazy Bull, was in response to an identified need for an increase in the number of Indigenous faculty on campus and an inspiration to the work she has completed for her dissertation.
