Bachors of Arts and Sciences, American Cultural Studies and Elementary Education

I’ve been involved in implement service learning at Northwest Indian College for the past five years and have found this to be one of the most rewarding professional experiences. I believe this to be so because I have a passion for teaching and learning from activities that involve critical thinking and social change to improve our communities. I'm from the Walker River Paiute Tribe, and teach Native American Studies.

Amber

Hi! Some of you may already know me, but for those who don’t, my name is Amber Forslund and I am the new Administrative Assistant for the Center for Service Learning. I am really excited to be working at the Center for Service Learning. I did a lot of Service Learning projects as a student here at Northwest Indian College, and it’s great to be able to work with all the other staff, faculty and students in a more in-depth level of Service Learning projects that bring so many positive feelings to our campus community.

It’s so important to be able to feel like a part of a community, and even though our campus isn’t very big (yet), you still need to feel like you belong, especially for our students who have traveled a long way from home to attend here, and I think that Service Learning is a great way to meet other community members who are interested in doing some good.

Jason

jason.jpg My name is Jason Chadick and I am an AmeriCorps member working at the Center for Service Learning here at Northwest Indian College. I'm really psyched about the coming months; we have an awesome variety of projects that are really showing some promise. However, I am not at liberty to talk about them they're classified. But if you're curious about what they might be, or what an AmeriCorps member is, please drop by our center in TS-2 and chat; I look forward to meeting you.

Talia
