Weavers Teaching Weavers Gathering
The Northwest Indian College Cooperative Extension is hosting its annual Weavers Teaching Weavers Gathering event for crafters to garner new skills.
The event will be hosted in the College’s Cultural Arts Center log building (building 7) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, and Friday, April 16. Registration is $120 at the door or $100 if pre-registered by Tuesday, March 30.
The gathering will provide an opportunity for experienced Native American Weavers age 14+ to learn from one another and to share their techniques. Project kit fees range from $10-$200. Projects may include crafting small baskets, hats, visors, pine needle baskets, a sea sweet grass basket, corn husk pouch, bolo tie, cedar headband and more.
A public Art Market will be held on Saturday, April 17, from 12 to 3:00 p.m. at the Whatcom County Museum of History & Art in the Rotunda Room. Baskets and other crafts will be on display and available for purchase.
