Celebrate Earth Day at NWIC
April 22, 2013 - 11:30am - 4:00pm
Northwest Indian College’s Center for Indigenous Service Learning will host “eARTh: Seeding the Community with Heart” on April 22 in the Log Building in honor of Earth Day.
Through various place-based activities, the event will provide participants with several opportunities to get involved to help restore the environment.
The day will start at 11:30 a.m. with a welcoming to explain the importance of planting seeds and protecting our food, which will be followed by service stations that include planting trees, gardening in NWIC’s Sun Garden, and creating seed starters from paper mache.
There will be a lunch break mid day – lunch will be provided – and the day will conclude with presentations on food sovereignty, as well as a garbage sort hosted by NWIC’s Sustainability Committee.
Community members are encouraged to attend.
