Coast Salish Storytelling and Art Workshop by Roger Fernandes
May 23, 2013 - 2:00pm - 4:30pm
There was a time when there was no internet, no television, and no books. Before all these modern methods of communication and teaching, Native people used storytelling and art to convey important cultural knowledge and information. We modern people must be reminded of the place story and art play in the lives of our ancestors so we can integrate them into our journey to reclaim our heritage.
This 2.5 hour workshop will share traditional Coast Salish storytelling and art design with an emphasis on helping the participants learn how to tell stories and create their own artwork.
The participants will learn ho w storytelling and art are often linked in the Coast Salish culture and hear and learn stories that are from the local Puget Salish tribes of western Washington
