4th Annual Vine Deloria, Jr. Indigenous Studies Symposium July 9 - 11, 2009 at NWIC

Northwest Indian College is proud to announce the 4th Annual Vine Deloria, Jr. Indigenous Studies Symposium hosted at the Lummi Campus near Bellingham, Washington. The purpose of this symposium is to bring together Native and non-native scholars and tribal elders who are interested in honoring the life and work of our friend, colleague, and mentor, the late Vine Deloria, Jr. The symposium this year will be open to all topics: religion, spirituality and philosophy, history, law and policy, and critiques of science and education. Registration fee is $100 (includes lunches and salmon dinner).

Native American Women & Girls and Men & Boys Conference

The dual conference for Native American Women & Girls and Men & Boys  will be held August 19-21, 2009 at Camp Huston (14727 Ley Rd,  Goldbar, Washington).  The conference focuses on wellness. Some workshops may include; Parenting, Youth Development, Financial Literacy, Native Plant/Hike, Basketry, Cultural Sharing and more to be announced.
