WHAT IS RUNNING START?

Running Start is…

  1. A dual-credit program allowing High Sschool Juniors and Seniors to earn both college and high school credit
  2. Tuition free for all students who successfully enroll

Note:

  • Free tuition does not cover college application or course fees. The student is responsible for covering them.
  • Courses can only be taken during the high school academic year (September through June)

THE PROCESS

  1. Schedule an appointment to take a placement test at either the NWIC main campus or the site closest to you (see directions below).
  2. If you pass the ENGL 100 threshold, you will take home the Running Start Packet to be completed and returned.
  3. Return ALL Running Start packet materials to either the Running Start Coordinator or the Site Manager (and contact info above).
  4. Meet with your High School counselor to fill out the RSEVF form (Running Start Enrollment Verification Form) and choose your college classes.*
  5. Meet with the Running Start Coordinator or the NWIC Site Manager to fill out a Registration form and register for college courses.
  6. Finally: This is very important… ATTEND ALL OF YOUR COURSES!!!!!

         * Repeat steps 4-6 Each quarter!
