What’s next? NWIC transfer, job fairs offer opportunities for the future
Northwest Indian College (NWIC) will host two events on Nov. 15 intended to help students and community members find some direction for the future.
The day will kick off with NWIC’s Fall Transfer Fair, which will run from 9 a.m. to noon in the Log Building on NWIC’s Lummi campus, at 2522 Kwina Road. The event, which is sponsored by the Washington Council for High School-College Relations, will feature Western Washington University, the University of Washington, Washington State University, Evergreen State College, Pacific Lutheran University, Central Washington University and Eastern Washington University.
“We hope the Transfer Fair will help guide our students toward their next academic opportunity,” said Nathanael Davis, NIWC recruiter and science outreach coordinator. “There will be a lot of respected regional institutions of higher education at the event for students to explore and connect with so when they are ready to move on from NWIC, they have a better idea of where they’re headed.”
The Transfer Fair is specifically intended to help students pursuing two-year degrees at NWIC who plan to transfer to other institutions to pursue four-year degrees, Davis said. Still, he said anyone searching for programs to further their professional development or level of education is invited to attend.
As soon as the Transfer Fair ends, participating university representatives in the Log Building will be quickly replaced by regional employers participating in NWIC’s Fall Job Fair. The event will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will help NWIC students and community members connect with local employers and find jobs.
Both events are free. For more information about the Transfer Fair, contact Nathanael Davis at (360) 392-4271 or email@example.com. For more information about the Job Fair or if you are interested in representing your business at the fair, contact Fran Dodson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
