DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to celebrate\, learn\, and share joy as we come together to honor the Stories that Shape Us for APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) Heritage Month on Wednesday\, May 24\, from 6-8 p.m. in the Depot Market Square in downtown Bellingham.\n\n\n\nEveryone is welcome at this FREE community event\, with food catered by Hana Teriyaki\, Naan & Brew\, and It’s the Sweet Things (owned by a BTC Culinary Program graduate). Enjoy live music provided by Squalicum High School students and a dance performance by PISA.\n\n\n\nSpeaker Shu-Ling Zhao\, a biracial Chinese American mother\, daughter\, wife\, auntie\, performer\, director\, educator\, policy advocate\, and community organizer provides a glimpse into her personal stories and experiences. These elements\, foundational to her ability to connect and form relationships for change\, stem from cultural lessons\, family and identity\, and a drive to impact and activate others.\n\n\nThis event is sponsored by the Community Consortium for Cultural Recognitions\, including BTC\, Western Washington University\, Whatcom Community College\, Northwest Indian College\, Bellingham Public Schools\, PeaceHealth\, and the City of Bellingham\, Washington – Government.
