About
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) supports Northwest Indian College faculty and staff in identifying, pursuing, and managing external funding opportunities that advance the College’s Strategic Plan and Mission:
“Through Education, Northwest Indian College Promotes Self-Determination and Knowledge.”
OSP provides guidance and support throughout the grant process, including identifying potential funding opportunities, coordinating proposal development and submission, and supporting compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements.
OSP is responsible for the institutional submission of grant applications and the acceptance of grant awards on behalf of Northwest Indian College. All grant awards must be made to Northwest Indian College, rather than to individual faculty or staff members.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to pursue external funding opportunities that support the College’s strategic priorities, programs, research, students, and communities. Potential funding sources may include federal, state, and tribal agencies; private foundations; corporations; and other eligible sponsors.
Before pursuing external funding, consideration should be given to institutional priorities, capacity, assessment, and planning to ensure that proposed projects are appropriate, sustainable, and aligned with the College’s mission and strategic goals. OSP works collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, and other College offices to support this process and promote responsible stewardship of sponsored funding.
Authorization to Pursue (A2P) Funding
Every proposal submitted for external funding to any agency or organization must receive administrative approval by the College before it is submitted.
Employees that have evidence-based need for funding, in alignment with the current Strategic Plan, Core Themes and/or Mission Statement must submit an Authorization to Pursue (A2P) form via:

A2Ps should be submitted as soon as possible or a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the agency application due date. Administrative approval comes from the employee’s supervisor, with final review and approval from the College president. Please note request for grant writing assistance on the A2P.

Financial Aid
Northwest Indian College administers a broad range of financial aid, scholarships, and work-study programs for students who can demonstrate financial need.

NWIC students are encouraged to engage and integrate into the life of the institution. Students are offered opportunities to participate in enrichment activities through Student Affairs, student government, and residence life.
NWIC Extended Campus Locations
Northwest Indian College’s main campus is located at the Lummi Nation. The College also has five full service extended campus sites located at Muckleshoot, Nez Perce, Nisqually, Port Gamble S’Klallam and Tulalip. Please use the location links to view details for each extended campus site.
