NWIC Reduces Tuition to $99 per Credit and Offers 50% off Reduced Rate for the Upcoming Academic Year
Northwest Indian College Board of Trustees approved a tuition reduction to a flat rate of $99 per credit for resident students effective from Summer 2021 onward. The new flat rate also represents a change from a tiered tuition rate for lower-division and upper-division courses. The new tuition rate simplifies the tuition schedule, while keeping rates affordable and transparent. Four-year students will save an average of $600 on tuition per quarter.
In addition, NWIC is offering 50% off tuition for the 2021-2022 academic year, which includes Summer 2021 through Spring 2022. New, returning, continuing, and transferring students are eligible for the new tuition rate and tuition waiver. This tuition waiver is made possible by the CARES Act grant funds.
“This past year we have all faced challenges during the pandemic, and the College wants to promote student success by reducing our tuition rate, offering an initial 50% discount, and expanding our distance modality courses,” said Destiny Petroske, Northwest Indian College Dean of Academics.
Registration for Fall is currently open through September 17, 2021. For more information and application directions, visit nwic.edu.
The College main campus is located on the Lummi Indian reservation near Bellingham WA. NWIC also operates six, full-service sites at reservations in Washington and Idaho. The College student body is represented by over 130 tribes from across the country.
NWIC is the only regional Tribal college in the Pacific Northwest, and the only accredited tribal college in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), recently extended NWIC accreditation to include distance learning, so students can continue their education remotely.
