Lummi Artist Jason LaClair Unveils New Mural in Science Building
Lummi artist Jason LaClair created a new mural in the Native Environmental Science building on the South Side of the Lummi campus. Jason says the piece is his first official mural on the Lummi Reservation.
The mural depicts the salmon and heron, both culturally and environmentally significant species, which represent the work the department and students are doing.
Community members, alum, students, faculty and staff gathered in the Native Environmental Science building Friday, Nov. 22 to celebrate the completion of the mural.
Alumna Althea Wilson says the piece will bring “a sense of home and identity” to future students.
