Northwest Indian College Board Appoints Dr. Lexie Tom as President

Dr. Tom, Doxwelitse — is a Lummi Nation Citizen, deeply dedicated to advancing education, community development and Indigenous governance. With extensive experience in education leadership, policy analysis, and cultural advocacy, she has worked tirelessly to strengthen tribal sovereignty, promote educational access and support Indigenous knowledge systems.
Dr. Tom holds a doctoral degree in Indigenous Studies with a concentration in Education and has served in a variety of leadership roles across tribal education, governance, and community programs. Her work reflects a strong commitment to empowering Native communities and fostering sustainable growth. She brings with her a wealth of experience, a collaborative spirit, and a deep understanding of the unique strengths and challenges faced by tribal colleges and their
communities.
Throughout the search process, Dr. Tom stood out for her vision, integrity, and unwavering dedication to Indigenous education. She is uniquely prepared to lead Northwest Indian College into its next chapter of growth, innovation and cultural revitalization.
