NWIC Announces Closure of Swinomish Site
Northwest Indian College formally announces the permanent closure of the Swinomish Extended Campus Site, closing June 4, 2025. Students who are registered through the Swinomish campus will relocate classes and advisors to Lummi campus with virtual offerings continuing.
NWIC President Dr. Lexie Tom, the Dean of Academics, the Dean of Student Service, the Human Resources Director and the Director of Extended Campus Sites held a luncheon at the Swinomish Site for students and staff Tues. May 13 to outline next steps and thank them for their commitment to Tribal education at NWIC.
Throughout the years, the Swinomish Tribal Community has been a close partner of Northwest Indian College. The Swinomish Extended Campus Site was established in 1999 and served the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community through higher education offerings, community education and food sovereignty.
Northwest Indian College is grateful for the opportunity to offer education at the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community for the last 26 years. Northwest Indian College looks forward to continuing to work with the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community to continue to promote higher education in the future.
