NWIC Board of Trustees Visits Port Gamble S’Klallam Extended Campus Site
The Northwest Indian College Board of Trustees visited the Port Gamble S’Klallam Extended Campus Site for their biannual site visits and community dinner. The Board met with staff in the Site’s classrooms, connected with Port Gamble S’Klallam education leaders, visited the Tribe’s Heronswood Garden, toured the Reservation and invited students, staff, alumni and community to a lunch in the House of Knowledge longhouse.
The community lunch was opened with a prayer followed by children songs from the Tribe’s Early Education Center. As everyone ate their meal, they watched the College’s 40th Anniversary video, listened to the AIHEC first-place winning speech of student Alice Marie Van Norman, heard updates from alumni and celebrated Port Gamble S’Klallam Site students’ academic achievement with a presentation of the Winter 2024 President’s and Dean’s list.
