AICF Names Chemical Dependency Student Catherine Goble Student of the Year
“On behalf of Northwest Indian College, we would like to congratulate Cate. Northwest Indian College implements the vision of ‘building nations by building people.’ To be truly self-determined communities, our Tribal nations need all our members to recover from substance abuse and trauma. Cate’s work is so important to the future of our Tribal communities,” Dr. Lexie Tom said.
Cate, a Colville and Yankton Sioux descendent, is studying Chemical Dependency and hopes to start a career that will help others recover from addictions.
“I have opened my heart and awakened myself to learning my Native American culture. As a Chemical Dependency Counselor, I will provide much needed assistance in my community and beyond. My passion for my Tribal community is very strong,” Cate said. “I want to help in any way possible to design my future goals around my suffering peoples. I have found that with my own recovery story along with the help from my education, I will have an incredible impact on serving my community and possibly reaching out to people all over the world.”
Congratulations, Cate! We are so proud of you!
